Asif Ali Zardari

…only if he took fair advantage of the opportunities given to him.

Disclaimer: Sarcasm Ahead

You may have heard wise men often scolding their children in the following words “the ones who study become Nawab and the ones who continue to remain busy with their mischievousness become a nuisance”. If we were to explain Asif Ali Zardari’s life in exact words then turn this quote upside down to the fact that if you remain to be mischievous throughout your childhood and adult life, you still may end up becoming the President of Pakistan!

Born in the streets of Karachi, Mr. Ten Percent (a.k.a) Asif Ali Zardari led Pakistan to a golden age – the one no one had ever imagined before and nor anyone can, in times to come.

Zardari always thought that the world belonged to him, and much of the credit for his thoughts goes to the fact that he was born in a rich family to Hakim Ali and Ara. He had an immense amount of land and established businesses to his name when others in the world were just struggling to get so-called “degrees” from top-class universities. But that was not all, growing up in a society where goons could get anything they wanted easily inspired Asif Ali Zardari. He wanted to adopt this attitude, but only for the good things that were about to come in his life.

Zardari Won The Heart of Pakistan’s First Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto As His First Move!

Where you couldn’t win the heart of your crush in the neighborhood or the one in your class, Zardari went several steps ahead and got married to the world’s most beautiful Politician and First Female Prime Minister of Pakistan – Benazir Bhutto. Moreover, let’s not forget the fact that when he married the ex-prime minister of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari was the center of turmoil going on in Pakistan in the ’90s.

This gave Zardari the confidence and greed for more!

He started his first venture in the government by forcing his wife to give him the ticket to the elections. Once he got that, he knew what he wanted next, and so he convinced Benazir of his superior management skills, to make him the minister for the environment in Pakistan. This was just the beginning of his evil genius-ness!

Asif Ali Zardari always loved big numbers and a proof of his love can be seen in the fact that he always wanted his “Ten Percent” to be bigger and better every time. For the similar reason, he also got himself involved in the purchase of Agosta class submarines from France and asked for a cut of 60 million Dollars to be transferred to his Swiss bank account.

If you’re thinking about how the authorities never came to know about it then Asif Ali Zardari is a Don, you just can’t catch him!

Have you ever wondered that Zardari’s mind has always worked like the old Muslim Kings and Sultans? The ex-President of Pakistan always believed in expanding his land and kingdom to places where no President/Prime Minister has imagined before and therefore today you see him owning monumental residences in France and other parts of the western world along with thousands of acres of agricultural land and property in Sindh and Dubai as well.

Zardari has also been generous when it comes to sharing his properties with the children as being one of the biggest landlords and the second richest man in Pakistan, he has even gifted complete districts to son Bilawal and daughters (now beat that as a birthday gift, can you?)

Once Asif Ali Zardari got known as the jack of all bad trades, he aimed for more dominance and this time his aim was exactly on point – to become the President of Pakistan which he achieved with ease after the departure of his dear wife, in the time period of 2008 to 2013. President is perhaps the only person in Pakistan who enjoys ‘absolute’ immunity from all civil and criminal cases until he remains the President and so Zardari benefitted from the perks just the way a powerful President should in this unfair world!

Zardari

Asif Ali Zardari also once fooled a whole country and can you guess which one? It’s Iran – during the gas pipeline deal! Zardari took a firm stand like a true soldier of the country and asked for his ten percent again if Iran wanted any benefit from Pakistan. The impacts of such a deal could have been massive for both the countries but Asif Ali Zardari only had one aim, any and every deal should benefit Pakistan or himself!

What amazes political pundits in Pakistan is perhaps the influence of Mr. Ten Percent, who despite going to jail in between 1996 to 2004 on multiple accounts of corruption, murders, and god knows what is still loved by people in Sindh. The man is always scheming and some of those schemes end up shocking the whole Parliament on behalf of Pakistan’s People Party (PPP)

Zardari

The best thing about Asif Ali Zardari is that whether he is on the President’s seat, locked in between Adiala Jail and Bilawal House or flying in the air, Zardari can play his card from any time, anywhere.

Looking at his life (Asif Ali Zardari), one certainly feels that only if he had taken advantage of all the opportunities provided to him in a good way, the future of Pakistan and his most beloved party – Pakistan’s People Party (PPP) would have also been better.

But nevertheless, until he is gone for good, the story of Mr. Ten Percent or you may better know him as the great Asif Ali Zardari will continue for the times to come.
